Biografia

Darren White’s work as dBridge has continually widened the possibilities of drum and bass. His early career encompassed Future Forces with Jason Maldini and Bad Company with Maldini, Fresh and Vegas, before a desire for a more soulful, melodic direction led him to establish Exit Records in 2003. Initially an outlet for his own productions, Exit became a platform for other artists without requiring them to fit a fixed genre template. With Instra:mental, he developed the Autonomic project through recordings, a podcast and club nights, exploring spacious halftime rhythms beyond conventional breakdown-and-drop structures. The Gemini Principle and A Love I Can’t Explain extend that curiosity into intimate, atmospheric music, while Heart Drive with Kid Drama and the house-and-techno alias Velvit offer other perspectives. His DJ career has included Fabric, Berghain and a Watergate residency. Now based in Phuket, White remains a producer first: a quieter touring schedule has given him more time to make music and develop live performances. Collaborations with Forest Drive West and pianist-composer Madison Willing reach into industrial techno and acoustic-electronic composition. Across these forms, personal feeling and the freedom to change direction matter more to him than maintaining a single recognisable formula.
