Biografia

Alix Perez’s music moves between the soulful side of drum and bass and more abrasive, experimental forms of bass music. The Belgian-born producer, Alix Depauw, established a substantial early statement with 1984 in 2009, then expanded his range through Chroma Chords, collaborations and releases beyond a single tempo. His work with EPROM as SHADES gives that exploratory instinct a particularly direct outlet, joining studio experimentation to an audiovisual live project. He founded 1985 Music in 2016 as a platform for that broader outlook. Alongside his own productions, the label has developed a community that includes Monty, Visages, Halogenix and Skeptical, with events and festival stages extending its identity beyond records. Perez’s international performances include Outlook, Shambhala and Northern Bass, while his solo catalogue continues to leave room for both low-end intensity and more reflective music. The soulful, deep direction of Entanglements is one example of that continuing range. Rather than keeping those interests in separate careers, Perez brings them together through his DJ sets, collaborations and the artists he chooses to support.
