Biografia

Arkaik works with the spare end of drum and bass, making rhythm and low-end detail do the work that denser arrangements might give to melody. His approach grew out of pirate radio and DJ residencies in southeast England, before productions for Diffrent Music and Flexout Audio established a wider audience. Winning an Octane & DLR remix competition helped begin his relationship with Dispatch. A move to Shanghai brought a Sweatshop residency and a deeper involvement in China’s drum-and-bass circuit. Across those settings, he has kept DJing and production closely connected, using sets to introduce unfamiliar sounds and building collaborations with artists including Amoss, Objectiv and DLR.
