Biografia
Kolectiv are a London-based drum'n'bass act formed in 2011, known for their dark, technical sound infused with elements of soul, minimalism, and classic jungle. Originally launched as a four-member collective, Kolectiv has evolved over the years into a refined and focused duo, consistently delivering cutting-edge productions across respected underground labels. The group was born in 2011 when Kerim Serter (aka Keza) and Sam Midgley (aka Carera), previously working together as Improv, joined forces with Simon Cordell (Kalm). They were soon joined by Barney “Reflect,” a close friend of Sam Midgley's, who contributed unique samples and textures. He exited the group early on to pursue hip-hop, while the remaining trio established their identity in the emerging tech-influenced drum & bass scene. They gained early attention with releases on Diffrent Music, including their breakout Immortalis EP (2014) and The Roots EP (2014), which showcased their blend of stripped-back drums, deep atmospherics, and jungle roots. They followed up with releases on Dispatch Recordings, Flexout Audio, Sofa Sound, and Rebel Music, solidifying their place among the UK’s respected underground producers. By around 2019, Sam Midgley stepped away from the project, and Kolectiv transitioned into a duo. Today, Keza and Kalm continue to lead the act, with Keza focusing on DJing and creative direction, and Kalm handling engineering and sound design. Notable releases from the 2020s include "The Pineapple Saga" (2023) single with Philth and 2025's Damocles EP.
