Biografia

Dazzle Drums are Nagi and Kei Sugano, whose partnership draws on decades of experience in Tokyo's house music community. Both began DJing in the 1990s, approaching contemporary dance music through soulful house, disco and dance classics. Nagi's years playing at DJ Nori's Smoker parties and Kei's encounters with New York dancefloors are part of that background. They began producing together as Dazzle Drums in 2005 and founded Green Parrot Recording in 2010, later adding Yellow Parrot Recording to their independent outlets. Their productions have appeared on King Street Sounds, BBE and Nulu Electronic, which released their second album Concrete Jungle. Alongside recording, they have sustained Tokyo parties including Block Party and Music Of Many Colours, and taken their selections abroad to Worldwide Festival and European club tours. Their musical practice remains inseparable from listening and dancing: Kei describes the dancefloor as a place to hear familiar music differently and experience bass physically, while Nagi adapts her selections to each setting. The duo's longstanding commitment is to share house music across generations, not simply preserve it as a set of classics.
