Eelke Kleijn moves between dancefloors and screens without treating them as separate musical lives. The Rotterdam producer began piano lessons at twelve, worked in a music shop a few years later and started producing after seeing how vinyl and DJs shaped a club. Since his first release in 2003, he has developed house and progressive records alongside music for television, commercials, games and film trailers. He values the contrast: commissioned work forces him to answer another person’s brief, while a club track is finished only when he decides it is. Kleijn founded DAYS like NIGHTS after growing tired of dividing different parts of his sound among separate labels. His studio work often begins with melody, and even his firmer tracks retain warmth and atmosphere. Albums such as “Moments of Clarity” and “Oscillations” make that dual practice clear—cinematic pacing and instrumental colour arranged with the forward motion required in a DJ set.
