JAW

‌

Biografia

JAW puts a singer's presence at the centre of club music. As dOP's frontman and a collaborator with artists including Claptone and Chambord, he brings songwriting into settings more often shaped around a DJ or producer. His influences reach beyond electronic music: he has named Michael Jackson and Jim Morrison as formative singers, and recalls starting out as the vocalist in a friend's band. The collaborative album Midtown made that openness explicit. Developed over several years and recorded in cities including Paris, Berlin, Los Angeles and Beirut, it brought his voice into contact with Claude VonStroke, Cassius, Art Department, Piers Faccini and other friends. The music moved through electronic pop, folk and R&B as well as house. No Eyes with Claptone and Art of Falling with Chambord are further examples of a voice that can give different producers' work a recognisable human centre.
