High-energy trance is Dustin Husain’s starting point, but his productions also draw on the wider dance music he encountered through video games and early DJ sets. Based in Los Angeles, he describes his approach as modern trance: music that can borrow from other genres without losing its trance foundations. He began DJing in 2014 while working as a hotel concierge, taught himself to mix and initially played parties and Top 40 venues in San Diego. Piano experience and online production courses helped him move into making his own tracks the following year.

His releases have appeared on Flashover, A State of Trance, Black Hole and Dreamstate, and his collaborations include “Timeout” with Ferry Corsten. Husain has opened for Gareth Emery and Paul van Dyk and played Dreamstate Southern California’s main stage and EDC Las Vegas’s Quantum Valley. That range also runs through his studio work: “Shooting Stars,” with Adara, combines nostalgic dance and trance ideas, while “Soul Energy” emphasizes the high-energy side of his sound.
