Caleb Jackson

‌

Biografia

Caleb Jackson’s house music draws on funk, disco and hip-hop, pairing those influences with a psychedelic edge and an emphasis on groove. Raised in New Zealand, he developed his production practice after settling in Sydney, teaching himself before moving from deeper club sounds towards classic house. Releases for MicroHertz, Metafloor, elrow and Desert Hearts have accompanied appearances at fabric, Thuishaven and Burning Man. His residency at Sydney’s Lost Sundays has been particularly formative, teaching him how to hold a large room through selection, mixing and the use of tension. In the studio, Jackson often starts with a hook and develops its mood rather than writing to a label brief. His Bassface EP for Archie Hamilton’s MicroHertz and the PIV track XXXL are part of a catalogue shaped by that approach, with the latter reinforcing his confidence in choosing material by instinct.
