Biografia
Even in this turbulent year, young talent Jody Barr has scored multiple successes. In the last few months the Welsh producer has debuted on Lee Burridge’s ‘TrybesOF’, started his PORTABLE MINDS monthly mix series, started his BLOOP London radio show… he’s also remixed the seminal 1998 ‘Freefall – Skydive’, championed by legendary figures and longstanding supporters Sasha, Alan Fitzpatrick, and John Digweed. With Joris Voorn and Black Coffee also endorsing his releases, Barr is a rising name to keep on your radar.
Barr’s catalogue is a vibrant showcase of his versatility. He is equally at home with melodic techno, acid and broken beats, (see his ‘Teriyaki Donut’ and ‘Telepathic Seduction’ on James Zabiela’s Born Electric imprint, and the acclaimed ‘Lavender Fields’ on his Portable Minds label), with some indie crossover exemplified by his standout remix of B O K E H’s ‘Options’ or his lazydaze podcast. His cut ‘Carson’ made the LNOE in Dub compilation at the start of this year, being reworked by the Canadian dub maestro Deadbeat.
The months ahead keep up the momentum, bringing more exciting new releases as his continuing relationship with Sasha’s Last Night On Earth crew brings a third EP in 2021. Also imminent is his return to the Config_of_self label, following his rework of Alex Church’s ‘Use of Self’ which received strong approbation both editorial and from fellow artists. Jody continues to raise the Barr even higher…
