Biografia

Tony De Vit was a central figure in British hard house, bringing the sound from Midlands clubs to Trade's after-hours dancefloor in London. His DJ career developed through Birmingham's Nightingale and London's Heaven before his Trade residency became a defining part of his musical life. Extended sets gave him room to shape the energy of a night, including a twelve-hour performance in 1995. With Simon Parkes, he established the V2 studio at Birmingham's Custard Factory in 1992, creating a base for productions and remixes. Burning Up reached the UK Top 30, while his 1995 BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix won the listeners' annual vote. He also supported younger DJs, notably mentoring Fergie. De Vit died in 1998. Reissues and remix projects have kept his music in circulation, and a blue plaque at the Custard Factory commemorates his work. His legacy includes both the records and the long, physically demanding club sets that helped give hard house its identity.
