Biografia

Astral Projection helped shape the melodic language of Goa trance, building long-form journeys from layered synthesizers, insistent rhythms and an expansive psychedelic imagination. Avi Nissim and Lior Perlmutter’s partnership grew out of Israel’s underground electronic scene, with industrial music, Kraftwerk and the arrival of acid house all feeding their early experiments. Before the Astral Projection name became established, they worked as SFX; their Trust In Trance releases helped carry that music far beyond its local beginnings. Tracks such as Mahadeva, People Can Fly and Let There Be Light, alongside albums including Dancing Galaxy and Another World, became central to the duo’s identity. Yet their story is as much about sustained studio collaboration as it is about a catalogue. In interviews they have recalled working with hardware synthesizers and drum machines, initially without a clear genre label for what they were making. That exploratory relationship has continued through international touring and new production, including the 2025 album For All Mankind on Iboga and work with John 00 Fleming. Their music remains rooted in the elaborate melodic architecture that first connected Israeli studios with Goa dancefloors.
