Critical Impact is the drum-and-bass producer William Heath, whose studio career grew from years inside the scene's record shops, labels and club nights. He worked at Menace Records in Windsor, with Ray Keith's Dread Recordings and ATM magazine, and around V Recordings' Movement events before Bryan Gee encouraged him to make his own tracks.

Early releases appeared as Will.I.Ain't on Zombie and Formation. As Critical Impact, he developed a heavier club direction, with records including Creeper alongside Break and Skibadee, and Sound Boy Killa on RUN.
