Darren Tate brings classical musicianship, songwriting and film composition into a career rooted in electronic dance music. The London producer and DJ is known both under his own name and through projects including DT8 Project, Jurgen Vries and Angelic. Twelve UK Top 40 singles established the scale of his early success, while records such as Let the Light Shine In, made with Jono Grant, became lasting parts of his trance work.
His musical activity extends well beyond clubs. He has composed for feature films, including Frontera with Kenneth Lampl, and worked on orchestral treatments of house and garage music. Scoring The Last Glaciers with Above & Beyond renewed his collaboration with Grant and led to JODA, a song-based project inspired by their shared love of vintage synthesisers and electronic pop. He also founded Mondo Records. More recent solo work for Anjunabeats, including Metamorphosis and its accompanying live performances, draws these different sides of his musical life into a continuing relationship with the dancefloor.
