In a 2015 Mixmag interview, wAFF recalled losing “Connected” when a drink was spilled on the Mac that held the track. He rebuilt its layered synths and sub-bass from memory—an accidental demonstration of how instinctive his arrangements had become. Born Jon Wafer and raised in Hull, he moved from indie music toward electronic production after discovering the spacious groove of minimal, taught himself in Fruity Loops and sent early material to Richy Ahmed, who passed it into the Hot Creations circle. The 2012 track “Jo Johnson” accelerated that breakthrough. Years of touring later, pandemic downtime gave wAFF the mental space to design NATURE, a label launched as both a home for music and a way to fund animal-rescue work.
