The world might have stopped during the pandemic, but ANNA never rested. The globally renowned techno DJ used the downtime to further her sound and craft a wave of new music. Since she secured a summer hit with 2019's 'Forever Ravers' with Kittin, she has explored immersive ambient next to powerful techno on a range of vital labels from Drumcodfe to Plus 8, Mute Records to Ahead of Our Time. As her streaming numbers continued to soar, ANNA eventually got back to the DJ booth and lit up dance floors around the globe.
Since November 2020, ANNA has shared her vast production skills with the world via The Anaweh Studio Masterclass. They offer over 10 hours of in-depth content and techniques alongside her countryman Wehbba and more than 1500 students to date have benefitted. They are crafted from the skills ANNA has picked up over more than 20 years in the dance music industry. In that time she has accomplished plenty including a BBC Essential Mix, featuring on the cover of DJ Mag North America, playing a live-streamed set for Cercle that has been viewed more than two million times and plenty more besides.
On the production front recently, ANNA continues to reach new heights and evolve and enrich her sound with every new track. She has released her always powerful, driving sounds on essential labels like Drumcode, Novamute and Domino amongst many more. She is also an in demand remixer who has taken on classics such as ‘Belfast’ by Orbital, ‘Howler’ by Martin Gore's Depeche Mode, ‘Trilogy’ by Chris Liebing and Grimes's ‘So Heavy I Fell Through the Earth,’all of which show her diversity. Add in original singles such as ‘Another Dream’ on Ahead of Our Time, 'Overflow' on an Afterlife compilation, ‘High Contrast’ on the legendary Plus8 and an EP on Drumcode and you have an artist at the top of her game.
Today’s success has been two decades in the making, stretching back to the nightclub her father owned in the countryside outside São Paulo, where she honed her craft as a DJ from the age of 14. Her journey since then has been marked by passion, hard work and unrelenting dedication to her craft. You can see this when she plays – a skilled and accomplished selector, her performances are energetic, engaging and captivating. Gigs at the legendary Warung, D-Edge and Time Warp Brazil in her home country are the stuff of legends, while globally she’s in ever-increasing demand playing everywhere from Movement Detroit, Awakenings, Tomorrowland and DC10.
2022 is already shaping up to be a huge year for ANNA with a new EP on Afterlife as well as remixes of Adam Beyer & DJ Rush and ‘Isaac’ from Stephan Bodzin’s new album all in the pipeline. Add in headline gigs at iconic clubs like Coachella, Rave Rebels Belgium, Awakenings Festival and Warung Brazil to name a few and there is no escaping the irresistible sounds of ANNA.
