Speaking to House Music With Love in November 2020, Bar Matari and Nave Natan Ostfeld described growing up in Hadera, a small Israeli town where almost nobody around them made music, meeting through Facebook at sixteen, and going on to play clubs across northern Israel and in Tel Aviv. They said Matari had formed MATARA and been running it on his own before Ostfeld came back from five years in the United States, and that working as two stopped either of them from taking the easy route. Mau House released their album Paranormal the following month. The credit changed again after that: when Kinetika Music issued the three-track EP Night Visions in September 2024, the MATARA name carried Matari alone, a Tel Aviv producer in melodic house and techno.
