Bio

Rafael likes to take a familiar record and make it work in his own musical world. That impulse was behind his edits of Jimi Jules' My City's On Fire and Daft Punk's Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger: the aim, he has explained, is to add something for the dancefloor without losing what drew him to the original. The Tel Aviv producer and DJ, Liav Shalom, took Rafael from the middle name he shares with his grandfather. His connection with Maccabi House developed into collaborations with Adam Ten and Mita Gami, followed by work for Hot Creations and Crosstown Rebels. On the latter, Gotta Be Cool pairs a more direct club track with Teder, made with N.O.Y and named after their studio complex.
