Bio

Tiësto’s career connects the trance era of large-scale dance events with the global reach of contemporary electronic pop. The Dutch DJ and producer first built his identity around trance, then expanded into house and vocal-led records while keeping the scale and immediacy of a festival set. His performance at the opening ceremony of the 2004 Athens Olympics remains a striking example of dance music reaching an audience far beyond the club. Las Vegas has become another major part of his performing life, through a succession of residencies and shows across the Strip. In parallel, Musical Freedom gives him a platform for his own releases and other producers, while Club Life has carried his selections through radio and compilations. His remix of John Legend’s All of Me won a Grammy in 2015, and later collaborations with artists including Karol G and Ava Max brought his production into new pop settings. For Tiësto, changes in style have been a deliberate part of the work. He has spoken about following the music he enjoys rather than remaining inside one sound, an approach that helps explain the distance between his early trance records and later albums such as Drive.
