For Matan Caspi, groove begins at microscopic scale. The Israeli producer has described layering percussion in detail, using subtle swing, shuffled hi-hats, sidechain movement and automation to give programmed rhythms a human pulse. That craft anchors music that moves between progressive house, deep-tech pressure, organic melody and, increasingly, Afro-house colour. Caspi also co-runs Outta Limits Recordings with Stan Kolev. The label has operated for two decades as both a home for their own work and a platform with enough freedom to develop new directions; related imprints have opened space for emerging producers and downtempo material. Collaboration is another recurring thread, from Kolev to D-Formation, with Caspi often describing the process as each artist extending the other’s initial idea.
