dc11 makes techno through modular synthesis and improvisation. Lucas Marchal came from hardcore, stoner rock and doom, alongside years in radio, finding a familiar attitude in Sandwell District before developing his own electronic work in Paris.
An OP-1 bought for ambient loops led to a modular workshop and eventually a Eurorack system. He has described performing with stripped-back loops on an Elektron Octatrack while improvising new material over them, keeping Ableton mainly for recording. Releases through Unknown Movements and Falling Ethics document the studio side of a practice designed to leave room for different decisions in each performance.
