International Chrome, the electro label Mikey Melas founded in 2018, opened with Trigger Zone, an EP he made as Jensen Interceptor with French producer Michel Amato, who records as The Hacker. He started it with Brendan Zacharias, who releases as Assembler Code and works as a mixing and mastering engineer; by their account the two grew up in the same working-class Sydney suburb, Maroubra, where Zacharias kept his studio, and were introduced by Jon Convex while he was touring Australia. Zacharias has said that developing artists is what keeps listeners coming back to one label instead of drifting between others. Melas came up in Sydney and made his debut album, Mother, which he has said is named for his mother Louisa, before moving to Berlin for a genuine chance to earn a living from music.
