Biografía
Sascha Funke's music balances the repetition of club rhythms with melody and the possibilities of song. A Berlin-based DJ and producer active since the late 1990s, he moves through house, minimal techno and more leftfield electronic forms rather than treating them as separate territories. His early Campus and Safety First releases place him near the beginning of Kompakt's catalogue, while the album Mango became a substantial part of his long association with BPitch. Later work has also appeared on Multi Culti, Turbo and Endless Flight.
With Julienne Dessagne, also known as Fantastic Twins, Funke formed Saschienne. Their 2012 Kompakt album Unknown brought vocals and live-recorded instruments into a shared electronic language; the duo subsequently performed at MUTEK, Lowlands and other international festivals. Alongside his solo productions and DJ mixes, Funke has remixed artists including Metronomy, WhoMadeWho and Gui Boratto. These collaborations sit within a career that leaves room for intimate listening as well as the club, with carefully shaped rhythms and melodic detail at its centre.
