Biografía

UK garage, dubstep and Middle Eastern musical traditions meet in Peaky Beats' work. The Leeds-based DJ and producer, Tom Meyer, moves between four-to-the-floor garage, two-step and bass-heavy 140 BPM music, releasing vinyl through his own imprint and collaborating with Eliza Rose, Pinder and Highrise. He is also part of Northern Division with Pinder and Hurrell. His British-Iraqi background became central to Bloodlines: Meyer wanted the album to reflect both his upbringing during the UK's early dubstep era and his family's Middle Eastern roots. Three years of work narrowed around fifty tracks down to ten. The Ishtar Gate followed in 2025, bringing UK bass rhythms together with maqam scales, darbuka percussion and Iraqi and Syrian motifs, with ancient Mesopotamia providing its conceptual frame.
