Biografía

Melleefresh brings theatrical characters, vocal play and performance-art instincts into house and electro. The Toronto artist, also known as Melleny Melody, began with cartoon-like big-band songs, a Betty Boop-style voice and an Atari-powered studio, working with pianist John Henry Nyenhuis before taking that character into club music. She founded Play Records in 1996 and became an early collaborator of deadmau5. Their freshmau5 partnership produced the Juno-nominated After Hours, followed by work with artists including Alixander III, Gettoblaster and Boy Pussy. Recording at Play Deep Studios in London adds another setting to a career spanning singing, songwriting, production and label work, with humour and knowingly excessive glamour remaining part of her presentation.
