Biografía

HDSN treats house music as an emotional record of everyday life. Michael Bihler draws on the older sounds of house and disco, looking to figures such as Chez Damier and Mood II Swing while leaving room for downtempo and less club-focused experiments. His route into music began with friends setting up a sound system for parties around rural Bavaria, before moves through Munich, Manchester and Berlin widened his musical world. Independence became central to the project when he founded NBAST, short for Nuthin But A Soul Thing, after struggling to place his music elsewhere. The imprint also brought artwork, video and support for other producers into his practice. Bihler has described his tracks as personal accounts rather than interchangeable club tools. That outlook gives his productions their combination of rhythmic purpose and feeling, whether he is making a house record for a crowded room or exploring a quieter mood.
