After five years, AVEM returns to Laut & Luise with a collection of gritty, dry, and driving compositions. Sidelines feels honest and raw, shaped by subtle narratives of half-forgotten memories between the lines. Nothing is spelled out, yet everything feels familiar.
This approach follows a productive 2025 defined by Uphill, an exploration of resilience in the face of adversity. That same year, AVEM pivoted toward the hypnotic, minimalist grooves of 2009, a project rooted in lo-fi nostalgia and stripped-back arrangements.
Dream State (2023) on Basel-based LOKD marks a debut album that displays a variety of sonic landscapes, from dancefloor tunes like Azure to experimental pieces like Intersum .
Debuting with Nuages EP (2017) on Heimlich Musik, AVEM has since established a genre-fluid catalogue that includes collaborations with Ninze, O/Y, Mira (Berlin) & Christopher Schwarzwälder and LOKD label-mates Arutani and Dandara to name a few.
Combining the structural foundations of house and techno with textural sensibilities, AVEM‘s sound is defined by its juxtaposition of hypnotic repetition and emotional density. Drawing influence from the motorik pulses of Krautrock and the intricate programming of IDM, his work bridges the gap between club-focused utility and complex, multi-layered arrangements. In addition to his studio output, AVEM is noted for a multi-disciplinary approach that incorporates visual media.
