Biografía

Simon Patterson has built his identity around the point where trance melody meets the harder mechanics of techno and psytrance. His sets can move from severe, driving rhythms to the emotional release of a vocal record, an approach developed across solo tracks such as Bulldozer, Smack and The One. Before that solo career took shape, he was part of Dogzilla with Richie Kayvan, whose Without You became one of the project’s defining records. Open Up gave Patterson’s musical outlook a home beyond individual releases, encompassing radio and live shows with a strong visual component. He also completed two BBC Radio 1 Residency runs and became a founding member of the VII collective. His performance history includes Dreamstate, EDC Las Vegas, Tomorrowland and A State of Trance, alongside club appearances and extended back-to-back sets with John Askew. Work with Armada and Armind continues that combination of melodic songwriting and harder-edged electronic production, without reducing his music to a single branch of trance.
