Biografía

Rock, hip-hop, soul, funk and trip-hop sit behind Dan Andrei’s approach to electronic music. Rather than arriving at the decks through a narrow diet of house records, the Romanian DJ and producer brought those wider listening habits into the patient, rhythmically intricate club music associated with his work. His Sunrise representation places equal weight on that musical background and on his ability to set a room in motion, including warm-up sets for Ricardo Villalobos and the a:rpia:r artists. Sunwaves has become a recurring setting for his DJing, with a recording from the festival’s thirty-first edition released through Trommel. His club history also includes fabric, Club der Visionaere and Bucharest’s Guesthouse. On record, releases for Be Chosen, Kurbits and a:rpia:r connect his early work to the Romanian minimal scene; later projects include Orange Sunrise for Half Baked. He also formed Sahau with Kozo and Paul Agripa, bringing another collaborative dimension to a career built around listening, selection and carefully placed rhythm.
