Schlepp Geist brings a live performer's instincts to house and techno. The Leipzig-based producer Sebastian Geist arrived at electronic music through hip-hop, jazz, soul and funk, then drum and bass and breakbeats. His later move to Berlin gave production a more serious focus, leading to live appearances at Panorama Bar, Watergate, Fusion and Nation of Gondwana.
His records have found homes at URSL, Katermukke, Hive Audio and Connaisseur, with collaborations and remixes running alongside his solo work. The studio is another place for performance: Geist has described recording longer sessions and choosing the passages that work, rather than editing every detail on a screen. Leaving room for an unexpected turn, or even a useful mistake, gives that process some of the spontaneity of his live sets.
