Mark Kufner, the creative force behind Toronto Hustle and founder of the Selections label, is a true luminary in Toronto’s underground dance music scene. With over three decades of experience, Mark has cultivated a reputation for his exquisite taste, innate ability to curate high-quality music, and unparalleled creative direction. Mark’s passion for house music is evident in every aspect of his work - whether behind the decks, in the studio, or at the helm of his labels.
As an artist, Mark has released music on some of the most respected labels in house music, including Freerange Records, WOLF Music Recordings, Local Talk, Distant Music, Nick Holder’s DNH Records, and Ron Allen’s Strobe Records. His sets are a testament to his gift as a DJ, seamlessly blending new, classic, and obscure records into a cohesive and electrifying journey. Over the years, he has graced the stages of Toronto’s premier venues and legendary warehouse parties, sharing the spotlight with house music icons such as Frankie Knuckles, David Morales, Kerri Chandler, Honey Dijon, Jimpster, Mood II Swing, Dennis Ferrer, Kenny Dope, Dam Swindle, Satoshi Tomiie, Ron Trent, Demuir, The Martinez Brothers, Karizma, DJ Spen, and Derrick Carter, among others.
In 2019, Mark launched *Selections*, a vinyl-only label that has become a beacon of quality and curation in the house music world. With a meticulous approach to creative direction, Mark has built a label that bridges the gap between legendary artists and emerging talents. At 17 releases and counting, Selections boasts an impressive roster that includes Nick Holder, Kai Alcé, Demuir, Black Loops, Dan Only, Nico Lahs, Intr0beatz, 83 West, Javonntte, Jon Dixon, Shaka, and Jon Cutler, showcasing Mark’s unparalleled ear for timeless music and his ability to nurture talent.
Mark’s visionary work with Selections led to his collaboration with Demuir as Label Manager for the vinyl-only division of *Purveyor Underground*, forming Purveyor Underground Limited. Under his creative guidance, the label has released music from legendary producers like Rick Wade, Fred P, Jason Hodges, Byron The Aquarius, DJ Sneak, and DJ Spen!
