Piano and accordion came before the club for Andy Bach. The German producer has recalled learning both as a child, moving through independent music and new wave in the 1980s, then encountering acid house near the decade’s end. By the mid-1990s, nights at Frankfurt’s Omen—especially sets by DJ Dag and Sven Väth—had become an important reference point. Bach’s own work now moves between disco, nu-disco, deep house and vocal house, with different aliases giving those interests separate outlets: Freshair for melodic techno, Saus & Braus for vocal material, and Andy Bach for the warmer house and disco side. Alongside producing, he has worked as a label manager and spoken publicly about demo selection and studio technique. His broad catalogue reflects that practical range, with recent releases and remixes across Disco Machine Records, Blur Records and other independent imprints. The common thread is curiosity rather than one fixed genre.
