Gettoblaster began with a friendship that crossed two foundational house-music cities. Paul Anthony, raised around Chicago, and Zach Bletz, from Detroit, had known each other since Bletz booked Anthony for Michigan events in the early 2000s; they formally started the project after meeting during Miami Music Week in 2014. The original duo traced its musical split clearly: Anthony brought the funk and jack of Chicago house, while Bletz contributed Detroit’s tougher, dubbier techno pressure. Their first album, We Jack, made that regional dialogue explicit. Anthony has since continued Gettoblaster alone after splitting from Bletz, carrying the project into new solo releases and collaborations. Even the name reaches back to childhood portable radios, with the “h” deliberately removed from ghettoblaster. Across both chapters, Gettoblaster has remained focused on contemporary club music built from Chicago jack, Detroit pressure, hooks and heavy low end.
