Bas Mooy is a Rotterdam techno DJ, producer and label founder whose work is closely tied to the city's underground scene. With Jeroen Liebregts, known as Radial, he built Audio Assault before establishing Mord in 2013. Mord became a meeting point for artists including Ansome, Paul Birken, Lag and Endlec, reflecting Mooy's preference for individual voices within harder techno.
His own records have appeared on Planet Rhythm, Perc Trax and Mote-Evolver, alongside releases for Mord. In interviews, he has connected their raw character with Rotterdam's industrial surroundings and direct manner, while describing a studio approach that grew from a relatively modest setup.
Running Mord also renewed his enthusiasm after years of difficult label economics. He has spoken about choosing artists through instinct and the prospect of a good working relationship, rather than treating releases as isolated transactions. That attention to people sits alongside his continuing DJ work, including appearances at Tresor.
