Biografie
LuizFribs brings violin into a live techno performance built around improvisation, percussion and the interaction of analogue and digital machines. His raw, rhythm-led sound draws on Brazilian traditions and the electronic music of the 1990s and 2000s, while his DJ sets place contemporary techno alongside older material. Luiz Fernando Ribeiro began studying violin at four and later played with the Goiás youth symphony orchestra. A school performance with a DJ led to Violink, a project that ran for seven years and introduced him to club music. His interests moved from commercial EDM towards deep house and techno, with Alex Justino and the Nin92wo circle helping connect him to Goiânia’s alternative scene. As his music became harder, he experimented with looping, distortion and other treatments to retain the violin within his live sets. Releases including Neosamba on Tantša and Native Ritual on Duplicity carry the Brazilian rhythmic influences into his productions; his wider catalogue includes Etruria Beat, Agora and Gomboc.
