Mattia Trani connects an enduring fascination with Detroit techno to the harder sound of contemporary Italian clubs. A producer, DJ and founder of Pushmaster Discs, he has released on Nina Kraviz's трип and Dax J's Monnom Black, and developed close associations with Cocoricò and Galactica. Collaborations with T78, AnD and 6EJOU belong to the more forceful side of his work.

Behind that intensity is a broad musical education. His father, DJ Marco Trani, introduced him to electronic music, while piano study, jazz and funk helped shape his own interests. The Hi-Tech Mission presented those ideas in album form, and the 313 Times EP featured remixes by Juan Atkins and DJ Stingray. For his early live performances, Trani used hardware and synthesizers with space for keyboard improvisation. That relationship between musicianship and the physical demands of techno remains a useful way into his work.
