Tim Reaper is a London jungle producer, DJ and organiser whose work connects a deep knowledge of the music's history with an active contemporary community. Detailed breakbeat programming runs through his solo records and collaborations with Dwarde, Kloke and Dead Man's Chest. In Full Effect, made with Kloke for Hyperdub, gives that shared approach an album-length setting.
Future Retro London, which he launched in 2020, became an important part of that activity. The label released artists including Sully, Nebula and Basic Rhythm and won DJ Mag's Breakthrough Label award in 2021. Its events later brought the same exchange onto the dancefloor. Reaper announced an indefinite pause for the label and nights in 2025 to concentrate on his own music.
His route into jungle began with an Andy C mix CD encountered during a school assignment, followed by a deep dive into online forums and older records. He became interested not only in the tracks but in the original recordings behind their sampled breaks. That research sits beside an instinctive studio practice: with Dwarde, he has described getting the main shape of a track down quickly while an idea is fresh. Knowledge of the past becomes material for making something now.
