Biografie
Gremlinz works between the physical force of jungle breakbeats and the restraint of atmospheric, dub-inflected drum and bass. Based in Toronto, he came to the music through hip-hop and Goldie’s Inner City Life, then progressed from collecting records to DJing and production. A release on Metalheadz’s MDZ04 in 2004 became an important early milestone; subsequent work has appeared on Renegade Hardware, 31 Records, Rupture and Paradox Music.
His preference for subtle, moody music runs through both minimal productions and dense breakbeat tracks. Collaborations with Stranjah, Ahmad and Rumbleton reflect that breadth, while his partnership with Jesta developed into the 2024 Metalheadz album The Lee Garden Historical Preservation Society. The pair also remixed Digital and John B’s You & Me for Function.
Beyond his own productions, Gremlinz co-founded UVB-76 Music with Ruffhouse in 2015 and has helped develop its associated imprints, including Droogs with Overlook. His DJ sets retain the same attention to rhythm and understated groove, with appearances at Renegade Hardware nights at London’s The End forming part of his club history.
