Biografie
Arthur Robert makes techno with a strong connection to live electronics and an earlier education in jungle and drum and bass. Originally from Vienna and now based in Berlin, he began DJing with vinyl as a teenager before a period in Amsterdam drew him further into techno. His production balances direct rhythmic movement with an interest in texture, breaks and the possibilities of a live setup.
His Arrival and Transition releases established a relationship with Figure, alongside later work for Vault and hereandthere. Performance and teaching are also central: he plays live as well as DJing and works one-to-one with producers on music and sound design.
Those relationships can become creative partnerships. Hydrostatic Equilibrium developed with Yalın, a former student who became a friend, bringing together tracks with different levels of energy and introspection. Robert's interest in astronomy supplied the title, but he has explained that the music begins with his feelings; the wider concept comes afterwards.
