L-Side connects forceful drum-and-bass production with the funk and soul of his earlier hip-hop listening. São Paulo-born Leonardo de Jesus Silva grew up playing guitar and making beats, taking inspiration from Gang Starr, The Pharcyde and A Tribe Called Quest before finding drum and bass.
V Recordings became a central home for his work, including the album Carnal Mind, while DJ Marky's early radio support led to an Innerground release. Performances at fabric, SunAndBass and DJ Marky & Friends brought his music to audiences beyond Brazil. Hip-hop remains an active interest rather than just a formative influence: he collects rap records and also plays hip-hop and R&B sets.
