Samuel L Session is the principal alias of Swedish producer Samuel Larsson, active in Gothenburg techno since the mid-1990s. His work combines disciplined drum programming with a strong melodic undertow, a balance captured by the string-led 2001 track “Velvet.” Larsson has repeatedly created his own infrastructure around the music: Cycle began in 1997, SLS followed in 2001, and Klap Klap later extended that label history. Those outlets sit alongside releases for Drumcode, Soma and Music Man, tracing a career that has moved through different phases of Swedish and European techno without abandoning economy or drive. Session’s tracks are direct enough for peak time, but their carefully placed chords and tonal shifts keep the machinery from feeling anonymous.
