Biografie

Scott Brown's music connects the melodic rush of happy hardcore with the tougher sounds of the Dutch rave circuit. Raised in Glasgow, he began making tracks with Q-Tex while at university, putting student-loan money into synthesisers and samplers. DJing followed production: promoters booking his music helped draw him behind the decks. The connection with the Netherlands began with considerable legwork. In 1993 he travelled from Glasgow to Amsterdam carrying DAT tapes and addresses copied from record sleeves, visiting labels without appointments. That trip opened conversations with companies already familiar with his UK releases and helped establish the international side of his career. Through Evolution and records such as Now Is the Time, Elysium and Turn Up the Music, Brown developed a repertoire heard at events including Rezerection, Fantazia and Nightmare in Rotterdam. His work ranges from uplifting hooks to harder, more abrasive tracks, with collaborations extending to M-Project and Al Storm. Beneath that range is a producer's attachment to the studio: even after moving much of his work onto a computer, he has spoken warmly about the hands-on appeal of his Roland synths and drum machines.
