Marcel Woods

‌

Biografie

Marcel Woods brought a hard, direct physicality to trance, building a career around the point where big melodic ideas meet the pressure of techno. His productions became closely associated with ID&T and High Contrast, with Advanced emerging as a defining track and the anthem of Trance Energy 2006. Musical Madness became both a party concept and a name for the wider life around his music: the studio, the travel and the response of a dancefloor. Behind the solo name was a long-running studio partnership with Wouter Janssen of Showtek, which began in 2000. Woods’ involvement with the brothers also grew into management and booking, leading to the creation of 2-Dutch. That parallel career eventually changed his priorities. In a personal statement on his website, he announced his retirement from regular DJing and production, explaining that family life and the demands of running the agency had become more important than constant international travel. He left room for occasional classics appearances under Bring Back the Music. His records continue to reach new listeners through reissues and reinterpretations, preserving a sound built around impact, tension and the shared release of the crowd.
