Biografie
Carlo Ruetz works at the junction of minimalism and techno, favouring stripped-down structures, unusual sounds and changes of direction in his DJ sets. The Rostock-raised artist bought his first decks in 2001 and built a small studio in his parents' attic, initially playing northern German clubs under the name Jason Wawn before adopting his own name.
Production followed in 2010, and the album Breakthrough brought his work to Richie Hawtin's attention in 2013. Releases on Minus and appearances at ENTER. Ibiza marked the development of that connection, alongside performances at Fuse in Brussels, Toffler in Rotterdam and a tour of India. His catalogue subsequently expanded through labels including SCI+TEC, Rukus and EXTND., while his stated working method remains to begin each production afresh and search for new sounds and arrangements.
