D I N is a Riga DJ, producer and promoter whose Micronica Records connects music-making with the work of building a local scene. Coming to electronic music from hip-hop, he developed a taste for minimal house built around basslines, rhythmic detail and restrained melodic elements.
His own releases share the label with other producers, while Micronica's events provide a setting for that music beyond the studio. Performances elsewhere in the Baltics and in countries including Morocco, the UK and Serbia have carried his selections further afield. The different roles remain closely related: making records, finding music by others and creating occasions to play it.
