Bio

Gary Maguire's tough-edged trance carries the imprint of an earlier life in Ireland's hardcore scene. He began DJing at fourteen, drawn to records his uncle brought back from Liverpool and Manchester, and helped run the pirate station Oxygen FM in Cavan. That hands-on involvement in local dance culture preceded the productions that connected him with John Askew and Discover. Maguire's music brings trance melodies into contact with harder, techno-driven rhythms. His Dark Sessions II mix and the artist album iNside gave that approach longer-form settings, while subsequent releases through Inside Music and collaborations with Evangelos (GR) continue his studio work. Looking back in a 2025 interview, he recalled the improvised equipment and determination behind those early parties and broadcasts: a musical education built by participating in a scene, not simply watching it from outside.
