Garrett Jr. is a Jungle producer and DJ from Bristol UK - a city that has deep roots in sound system culture, Jungle and Drum and Bass. His story spans decades in the underground music scene.
Early influences came from the darker, techier end of Drum and Bass and Techno. Artists like Bad Company, Future Cut and Thomas Krome are key influences, to name but a few. But it was the raw, sample-heavy energy and rattling breaks of Ragga Jungle that truly pulled him in, eventually co-founding Run Ting Recordings during the genre's mid-2000s resurgence.
As the original studio engineer and creative director for Run Tingz, he produced and released music with artists including Top Cat, Tenor Fly (RIP), and YT; as well as working closely with Serial Killaz on projects such as Murder Ya Sound, Hustler and Bun Babylon. Took My Breath, his biggest single to date, has now clocked over 1.5 million Spotify plays.
After stepping away from Run Ting in 2019 to establish The Discourse, a creative agency and Certified B-Corporation, Garrett's passion for production was reignited by the meteoric rise of new-school Jungle and releases from labels including Future Retro, Deep Jungle, Straight Up Breakbeat, Hardcore Energy, Sub Code and Rupture LDN.
His new music fuses classic breakbeats, rave-era synths, techy Reese bass lines, and signature Jungle sub bass frequencies. Built with intricate detail, but always engineered for the dance floor. Run it!
