Balanka is Brazilian producer Gabriel Veiga's project for exploring contrast within minimal house and darker tech house. Bass has a prominent role, but so do vocal fragments, unusual textures and psychedelic details. Real Smooth on Shout Label introduced that approach, followed by releases through Repopulate Mars, Take Notes and Collecting Dots.
His own material is also central to his DJ sets. A 2025 mix for PROFOUND included nine unreleased productions, letting listeners hear ideas before they reached a formal release. Performances at venues including São Paulo's D-Edge and collaborative work with Gabss place the project within a wider club community. Balanka's stated interest in originality starts with the small contrasts inside a track, rather than a commitment to one fixed version of house.
