Vinyl is central to Tarkno’s life in techno: the Australian-born, Berlin-based DJ builds his sets through record collecting, extended blends and a feel for old-school grooves. His music draws on hardgroove and tribal rhythms, while long sessions at clubs such as RSO give him room to explore beyond a short festival slot.
In the studio, sampling is a way of discovering possibilities rather than preserving a source unchanged. He has described turning vocal fragments into bass parts and reshaping drum sounds into melodies, often working until the original material is no longer recognisable. Releases on IMF, Emerald and Frenzy connect that practice to his DJ work, alongside his vinyl-only Lethal Loops imprint. He also teaches the practical craft of playing records, from cueing and beatmatching to building a collection and developing an individual style.
