Bio

For Abstraal, the human voice is more than a finishing touch on a club track. The French duo’s melodic techno and indie-dance work often gives vocals a central role, and their collaboration with Greta on La Magie des Rêves reflects a preference for performances that retain a little roughness and personality. They have spoken about wanting that human character in the music rather than polishing every imperfection away. Their Axis Mundi project with Jas/t took a different route, using instrumental writing and wordless vocal textures around the idea of a connection between everyday and spiritual worlds. Such collaborations sit alongside work with producers including Olivier Giacomotto, Popof and Rafael Cerato. Abstraal’s DJing ranges from Family Piknik to more intimate club rooms; they value the closeness of a small crowd as well as the scale of a festival. Their own Based on Real Facts events give that approach another setting, connecting the music they make with the dancefloors on which they share it.
